Cabinet approval of NYP: a plus for NDC gov’t

The news that Cabinet has approved the National Youth Policy (NYP) that spells out how the youth can actively participate in the socio-economic development of this nation is indeed heartwarming. This is something that has long been overdue. And as the saying goes “better late than never,” though, late we at Today are happy that the Mills administration has given approval to the NYP. According to...

Well done, NPP

After a marathon presidential primary to elect their party’s flag bearer for the 2012 general election, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) once again gave Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the second chance to win power for his party. And so for us at Today, we were not surprised at all that ahead of waiting for his official declaration, Nana Akufo-Addo, who contested in the 2008 election but lost...

ADB must back up!

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), one of the traditional banks in the country, has come under fire from Ghanaian workers, whose salaries are channeled through the bank. There is no gainsaying the fact that the bank has helped in boosting productivity, especially by assisting our local farmers with soft-term loans and other credit facilities. It is for ADB’s impeccable record in that regard...

NPP aspirants must beware of infiltrators

The decision to expand the Electoral College of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 1,500 to the current 115,000 and make it the largest Electoral College on the continent was widely welcomed by Ghanaians and political watchers on the continent because of its potential of improving upon the democratic credentials of the country and the continent at large. An albatross called Sekou Nkrumah

Quite often, some people fail to cut their own identity. Such always thread in the shadows of a relative with an iconic stature; be it father, mother, uncle or others. It is the case of difficulty on the part of the pretenders to disengage themselves from the goodwill that such relatives enjoy even after their demise. In the estimation of the struggling individuals, perhaps the only way to catch attention...

Press freedom under attack?

As the fourth arm of government, the 1992 constitution of Ghana clearly guarantees and spells out freedom and independence of the media. The constitution goes on to emphasise that there shall be no censorship in Ghana and there shall be no impediments to the establishment of private press or media; and in particular, there shall be no law requiring any person to obtain a licence as a prerequisite to...
