Alhaji Bature accused of taking bribe to defend Korle bu CEO

The Managing Editor for the Al- Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, has been accused of taking bribe from the Chief Executive Officer for Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Prof Otu Nartey, to carry out damage control work for the CEO.

Alhaji Bature is said to have taken a colossal sum of money to paint Prof. Otu Nartey as a perfect man who had excelled in discharging his duties at KBTH.

A journalist who only gave his name as Yaw and claimed to be part of a team of journalists investigating Prof. Otu Nartey and issues arising from his administration, said on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday that, he had a recording of Alhaji Bature being engaged to do damage control for the Korle-Bu CEO, over series of allegations leveled against him (Prof. Nartey), involving his handling of affairs at the hospital.

Yaw claimed his investigation team ‘planted’ some people at the office of the CEO, who did the secret recording of the CEO planning to hire the services of Alhaji Bature to do damage control job for him.

He maintained that Alhaji Bature’s decision to defend Prof. Otu Nartey in all allegations leveled against him attested to the fact that he had been bribed by the CEO.

He therefore threatened that copies of the Al-Hajj newspaper which have been posted at the KBTH notice boards should be removed within 24 hours; else he (Yaw) will release the said recording.

He claimed the publications in the Al-Hajj newspaper are false and should therefore be removed.
Yaw also claimed that newspapers like the Ghanaian Trust, the Chronicle and the New Crusading Guide have copies of the document and have being publishing it in their papers.

There has been a major rift between the Board and management of the nation’s largest Teaching hospital, which is affecting quality health delivery at the hospital.

Prof. Otu Nartey had been accused of mismanaging the hospital as corruption and power struggling is the order of the day, making the country’s premier health care facility a “white elephant”, lacking basic health equipments.

However, reacting to the allegation, Alhaji Bature wondered why such a good person as Prof Otu Nartey who had turned things around at KBTH but was being painted black.

Alhaji Bature said the CEO for KBTH and the Board Chairman were trying to rebuild and rebrand the facility, but some individuals were not in favour of the new changes, hence their decision to oppose Prof. Otu Nartey.

He claimed the CEO had halted the purchase of items from local contractors or suppliers and now dealt directly with manufacturing companies.

He noted that this change had affected some people who were peeved and are making unsubstantiated allegations against Prof. Otu Nartey.—Myjoyonline.com
