Miss Phyllis Pobee, a Ghanaian philanthropist based in Canada, has donated stationery items and computers worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Living Faith Academy at Mallam, a suburb of Accra, as her contribution to help develop the school.

The items included exercise books, computers and keyboards, schoolbags, reading books, pencils, pens and candies.

Miss Pobee is the daughter of Mr. Emmanuel Pobee, who in partnership with Bramalea Christian Fellowship also in Canada, made similar donations to the God’s Hand Outreach Chapel and Pakro Community in the Eastern Region respectively recently.

Phyllis Pobee emulated the kind gesture of her father by donating to the Living Faith Academy.

According to her, the donation formed part of her social responsibility and the need to support the needy whenever she is in Ghana.

She indicated that she had passion for children and that motivated her to embark on this humanitarian gesture.

“It has always been my passion to help deprived children in school, after touring this school with family, I saw they lacked so many things in the school and I thought it wise to help them in my widow’s mite,” Miss Pobee explained.

The young philanthropist in an interview with Today noted that her donation to the school would not end there and further pledged her continuous support to help develop the community.

She said the donation was her widow’s mite to complement the efforts of the proprietress of the school to offer quality education to children in the community.

Miss Pobee also pledged to teach at the school whenever she is available in the country.

For his part, Mr. Emmanuel Pobee, who was present at the donation ceremony with the rest of the family, hinted that the family would not renege on its promise to help the school.

He used the platform to advise the students and pupils to study hard to become good and useful citizens in the country.

In a word of appreciation, the proprietress of Living Faith Academy, Madam Sarah Botwe, commended the Pobee family for their kind gesture, and also appealed to philanthropists and corporate bodies to do same.

She was full of excitement and noted that the donation by the Pobee family was a dream come true because after 16 years of its existence, such gesture had never come to the school.
