Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Nana Akufo-Addo in a chat at the Manhyia palace. Looking on is Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, NPP National Chairman
The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday joined the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia palace to observe the ‘Wukudae’ festival with the people of Ashanti.
Nana Akufo-Addo also used the occasion to formally introduce himself to the Asantehene as the NPP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2012 general elections.
He thanked the King and his elders for their support over the years and humbly appealed to them to continue to remember him in their prayers so that his objective of leading the NPP into victory in 2012 is successful.
He remarked that “a few months to the August 7 election, I came to you, here in the Manhyia palace to seek your prayer and support. Besides the warm and wonderful reception, you also counseled me and I want to use this opportunity to once more show my sincerest appreciation to you for those wise words.”
He continued that “winning 38 out of 39 constituencies in Ashanti and nearly 80% of the popular votes nationwide on August 7 only confirms how timely and useful your advice was and I look forward to many more of it in future.”
Also present at the gathering was former President Kufuor, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, NPP Chairman and Mathew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia among others.
