Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen
A member of the Team Alan, Kofi Dotse Ampaw, has expressed disgust at recent violent attacks on some members of the team in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Dotse Ampaw described as unfortunate the inability of Nana Akufo-Addo to control his followers who are always attacking and brutalizing supporters of other aspirants.
Speaking on Fox fm in Kumasi, the Team Alan member noted that ‘leadership entails so many things, and very important of them is your ability to effectively and efficiently manage your followers’.
His comments follow a brutal attack on one Kofi Dubai, a popular serial caller who is perceived to be an ardent supporter of Mr. Kyerematen by some supporters of Nana for President (NAFOP) at the premises of Ash fm in Kumasi.
Kofi Dubai is alleged to have gone to the Radio station to protect the former Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Hilda Addo, who was said to be under attack by the NAFOP members.
However, when he arrived there the aggrieved Nana Addo loyalists vented their anger on him and brutally assaulted him leading to the loss of some teeth, since they could not get Hilda Addo, who had then been whisked away from the scene.
Mr. Dotse Ampaw noted that the attacks on other aspirants of the position by Nana Addo’s “militants” and his inability to control them showed the caliber of person, who wanted to lead the party.
“A good leader has control over his followers no matter who they are. This is the hallmark of effective leadership, not a person who condones violence or waits for his followers to misconduct themselves only for him to disassociate himself later”, he said.
Refering to Nana Addo’s assertion sometime ago that there were militants in the NPP, Mr. Dotse Ampaw said no one aspirant had monopoly over the so-called militants.
Wondering why some of the aspirants were able to contain their followers to comport themselves while Nana Addo’s were unleashed on innocent party men, he said the continuous attacks by Nana’s boys against followers of other aspirants grossly indented his leadership qualities, which was already a talk of the nation.
Kofi 1234, as he is popularly called further enquired whether the Danquah-Busia tradition was about violence as some people in the party were making it seem.
Comparing the party’s Flag bearer aspirants to the widely perceived contender in the 2012 General elections, Prof. Mills, Mr. Dotse Ampaw noted that the sitting president was God fearing, accommodative and gentle hence the need for the NPP to elect someone with similar and even higher level of such qualities to match him in 2012.
“In spite of the social hardship the nation is going through, Prof Mills is widely known to have these qualities and whoever the NPP chooses should be a candidate, who is more cherished, God fearing, gentle and likeable by all Ghanaians”
…Our delegates should choose a leader whose vision and character would positively market the NPP and not just someone who is perceived to be popular only in the party since that will be detrimental to us”, he emphasized.
“No matter what the situation is in the nation Both NDC and NPP and all other parties have agreed we need peace and hence a peace loving candidate must be voted for. We want someone who can win floating votes in 2012 and not someone who is perceived to be radical and cannot control his followers”, Kofi 1234 added.
Alan Kyerematen, he confidently stated, is the one who has been able to proof that he has the welfare of the delegates at heart and was therefore aware the delegates would not in any way be influenced by anybody into voting against him.
