As part of activities marking the celebration of the 11 years anniversary of Peace Fm, a football match was played between the station and New Life Keep Fit Club, at the St. John’s Grammar School Park in Accra last Tuesday.
The game saw the star-studded team of Peace Fm led by skipper Ernest Brew Smith, otherwise known as, Afriki Joe, drubbing their opponents by 7 goals to 2.

The former “Chelsea playmaker” Emmanuel Bakoe put the noses of Peace Fm in front by beautifully converting a spot kick when the game was just 30 minutes old.
The formidable Peace Fm squad, coached by Fadda Dickson, a staunch Accra Great Olympics supporter, dominated proceedings after the equalizer, which saw skipper Afriki Joe dribble past three New Life defenders to nod in the second goal for his side five minutes later.
The dexterity and dribbling skills of the Peace Fm skipper ensured that a goal in the spate of 15 minutes was recorded by his side when he unleashed a 35-yard shot in the 42nd minute of the first half.
The New Life team that appeared very weak in the first department of the game managed a cancelation just before the stroke of half time to bring the scoreline to 3-1.
However, the second half saw the youthful Peace fm team confirming their superiority as they exhibited good inter-positional play, compelling all the eleven men of New Life to run into defence.
Upon their adoption of a defensive system, Afrika Joe recorded a hat-trick on the day after the New Life goalie had failed to block his ferocious shot in the 55 minute.
Shortly after the fourth goal, the much popularized game, which drew the attention of over two thousand spectators, was virtually reduced to a training session as the Peace team proved to be too much for their counterparts to contain.
Ernest Brew Smith recorded his personal sixth and seventh goals for his side in the 75th and the 85th minutes respectively.
The New Life team however took advantage of the luck-luster attitude of Fadda Dickson’s boys to get a second goal in the 89th minute.
The match also had its own share of excitement when Emmanuel Bassaw, a.k.a. King Kalusha, was brought on in the second half.
He defied all odds to make some delightful runs and passes amid cheers from the crowed.
After the match, Fadda Dickson, who is also the Head of Administration and Finance at Peace Fm, disclosed that although the match was part of the station’s 11 years anniversary, it was also in commemoration of the centenary birthday of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and to ensure that “we savor over the leading role he played in the formation of the African Union (AU)”.
