Vodafone launches world of difference

Vodafone Ghana Foundation has launched the World of Difference, an initiative to provide ordinary people the opportunity to contribute their skills to community development or project that they are connected with.

VodafoneThe community impact programme will give 20 Ghanaians the chance to offer their time and skills, experience to make a change in a charity they are passionate about in the country.
Speaking at the launch at a colourful musical concert dubbed: ‘020 Live Concert’ on Saturday, Mrs Stella Appiah-Nkansah, Human Resource Manager at Vodafone Ghana, said the flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme was part of the company’s contribution to improving the lives of the people in the communities.

Under the programme, Vodafone would pay the salaries and allowances of individuals or skilled professionals who spend the period outside their own offices to volunteer their services to communities or project.

Mrs Appiah-Nkansah said the programme would afford high skilled professionals the opportunity to take time off their normal work and undertake a project in a community of their choice.

Individuals willing to participate in the programme would have to apply to the Vodafone Foundation and be selected based on the relevance of the project to the intended beneficiary community.

Successful applicants will take leave from their day-to-day jobs for two months, receiving an allowance from Vodafone Ghana Foundation for the time they take to enable them devote themselves to their chosen projects.

Vodafone’s World of Difference programme currently operates in 17 countries across the world, with more countries including Ghana, launching in 2010.

To date, it has allowed over 750 individuals around the world to work for their dream charity and be paid.

The Vodafone group foundation recently announced that it has stashed away 100 million Pounds sterling to support CSR activities across the world.—GNA
