NPP NEEDS AN ACHIEVER

The immediate past Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has stated that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) needs to elect an “achiever not a long serving member  of the party” to be able to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, President Mills cannot perform which therefore behooves the NPP to choose a development-oriented professor to chase party out of the Castle, the seat of government.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng stated that he was contesting because he was not satisfied with the work the NPP did when it was in power in spite of the knowledge, exposure and support the party had.

He said this over the weekend at Agona Swedru when he was addressing NPP delegates as part of his tour of the Central Region to solicit for their votes in the upcoming NPP delegates’ congress.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng, who is also contesting for the flagbearership position of the NPP, indicated that Ghana could have made a lot of gains if past governments had heeded to his advice to put to use the abundance of raw materials in the country to produce biodiesel and gas.

“I have been hammering on this biodiesel and gas thing for over 20 years but both NPP and NDC have failed to adopt the strategy to save the country the huge cost of importation,” he lamented.

He was worried about the huge sums of money government spends in importing products such as toothpick, matches and candles when he noted the nation has abundant raw materials to produce these items.

The first black heart surgeon in the world warned that the country will run into crisis if things are not done differently to move the nation forward.

He urged Ghanaians to discard the notion that Ghanaians can only repair but not manufacture saying the country has all the raw materials to rub shoulders with the manufacturing countries.

The professor underscored the need for the NPP to elect a new and a different leader who will win the trust of Ghanaians since NDC has destroyed all the good policies of the immediate past NPP administration left behind for Ghanaians, which include the school feeding programme and capitation grant.

He promised to work in close collaboration with Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo to ensure that Ghana exports more to make the country richer.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng, a founding member of the NPP who took active part in the “Kumepreko Protest” in 1995 also promised to transform the party’s constituency, regional and national offices throughout the country to project the image and activities of the NPP

A former Member of Parliament in the Ashanti Region under the Kufuor administration, Mr James Adusei Sarkodie, charged the NPP to stop the politics of insults and forge ahead as a united party to win the 2012 election.

He described Prof Frimpong-Boateng as a unifier and a person who can win floating voters to ensure a massive victory for the party and therefore called on the delegates to give him the nod.

A slide show on the achievements of the aspirants in Germany and Ghana was shown to the delegates who applauded him for his visionary, dedicated and leadership qualities.
