Issah Mohammed, a 29-year-old salesman, was last week jailed 10 years with hard labour by a Takoradi Circuit Court ‘B’ for stealing 110 pieces of Vodafone mobile phones valued at GH¢5,110.00.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the court to tamper justice with mercy, but his plea was not taken by the court presided over by Justice Charles B. Nimako.

policeThe prosecution team, which was led by Sgt. Seth D.K Alelegbe, told the court that the accused is a salesman and the complainant is the Director of Vodafone Takoradi branch.

He explained that about four months ago, the accused collected 110 pieces of Vodafone phones from the complainant under the pretext of going to sell and bring the money.

He further told the court that after collecting the phones, the accused went into hiding for several weeks.

On 28th April 2010, the complainant had information that the accused was at Tarkwa Vodafone Office collecting other phones.

On hearing this, the complainant then rushed to Tarkwa to see the accused.

When the complainant asked the accused where exactly the mobile phones were, he was unable to answer. This made the complainant very irritated and reported the case to the Takoradi police station and where he was arrested.

During investigations, the accused Issa Mohammed, admitted the offence and told the police that he had indeed sold the mobile phones.
