Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) Ghana has launched its first edition of external newsletter in the Central region to keep stakeholders and its partners updated on major activities and events happening within the organisation.

The newsletter is also to open another channel of communication for customers to express their views on MTN products and services to enable the company improve upon its services.
The newsletter, which focuses on MTN’s activities for the year 2009, also has segments for the organisation’s executive committee, MTN group, stories on their corporate social investments as well as their products and services.
Addressing media personnel at the launch in Cape Coast last week Thursday, March 18, 2010 the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mrs Mawuena Trebarh, stated that the company put together the publication to enhance public knowledge on telecommunications and the importance of Information Communication Technology (ICT) innovations to every Ghanaian and to the nation’s development.
Mrs Trebarh disclosed that her outfit continuous to lead the telecommunications industry both locally and across Africa as well as in the Middle East with innovative customer-centered products.
The corporate services executive hinted that the company was planning to collaborate with the Electricity Company of Ghana and the Ghana Water Company to find out how best they can roll out their fibre in order not to be interrupted by others. This she said will help the company to maintain smooth operations to the satisfaction of their subscribers.
She further disclosed that the company’s revenue increased by 9.2% while earnings before interest, tax and depreciation also increased by 6.7%.
Mrs Trebarh announced that the company increased its subscribers to 8 million representing 24% in Ghana and 116 million representing 28% globally in 2009.
According to her, improvements in network quality and capacity enhanced the company’s value propositions and the MTN zone offering as well as the loyalty programmes have enabled the company to maintain its market share of 55% despite fierce market share.
She attributed the successes chalked by the company to the loyalty and goodwill of subscribers and stakeholders and the company’s commitment to support national development by implementing sustainable development projects through the MTN foundation.
She said MTN has invested about 12.5 million as social investment into the Ghanaian economy for the past years.
Mrs Trebarh also commended the media for their support through their news bulletins, advertisements, interviews amongst others saying it has assisted them to communicate information about their products to their subscribers.
