Presenting the facts of the case to the court, the prosecutor Mr Otu Boison, assisted by Miss Anita Wase, said on February 13, 2010 the complainant who is also a driver sent a Tata Pick-Up vehicle to a car dealer near Ahodwo in Kumasi to be sold for his friend, Asante Oltis, who is resident in Accra.
He said the dealer on February 22, 2010 successfully got a buyer for the vehicle and called the driver to his office for GH¢5,100 and provide the documents of the car for the remaining GH¢3, 000.
While the complainant was looking for a taxi to Adum, Mr Boison noted, a taxi cab driven by Kweku Opoku with Kwame Boateng and a witness Linda Agyeman seated at the back of the car appeared.
He said the complainant joined the taxi and on reaching a section of the road at Whirlpool Company, the driver informed the passengers that he was diverting through Nhyiaeso residential area to avoid traffic.
However, after diverting his colleague, Kwame Boateng held the complainant and forcibly took the GH¢ 5,100 and his Nokia mobile phone from him.
When they got to the MTN Roundabout, Kwame Boateng pushed the victim out of the car and they sped off.
The prosecutor continued that on February 24, 2010 Kweku Opoku was identified by the complainant at Adum-Afrancho in Kumasi and was arrested by the police.
Kwame Boateng was also spotted at Meduma in Kumasi two days later and was subsequently arrested by the police.
The two robbers, after investigations, were charged with the offences accordingly.
