SRC President, Mr Morkla being assisted by his executives to plant a tree
The President of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Sunyani Polytechnic (S-Poly), Philip Kofi Morkla, has called on Ghanaians to make it a point to atleast plant a tree every year.
According to Morkla, the time has come for Ghanaians, especially the youth to plant trees in order to reduce the effects of global warming in the country.
He remarked this at a tree planting and clean-up exercise, which was organised by the SRC of the Polytechnic in collaboration with the various denominations in the institution.
The exercise formed part of activities marking the 53rd Independence Day anniversary celebration of Ghana.
“As part of the 53rd anniversary of Ghana, as SRC we thought it wise to organise such a program to atleast plant some trees and clean the environment,” he disclosed.
The clean-up and tree planting exercise took place at the premises of the polytechnic and other surrounding communities.
In a brief statement, the Welfare Officer of the SRC, Samuel Oti Anane, seized the chance to thank Ecobank, sponsors of the event, and thereby called on other corporate organisations to emulate the shining example of the bank.
