St. John’s celebrates founder

St. John’s School in Takoradi in the Western Region has marked the 6th celebration of its Founder’s Day with a clarion call on parents to help provide quality education for their children.

The Chief Collector and Clients Relation of CEPS, Mr Roberts N. Mensah, who made the call stated that, the quality education that the nation was yearning for could be achieved depending on a number of factors among which are a conducive environment for learning and teaching; classroom management in terms of actual time spent on teaching or learning process; and good administration.

The 6th Founder’s Day Celebration of the school was on the theme “Sustaining Stability and Innovation in Ghana’s Educational Policy as a Prerequisite for National Development.”
According to Mr Mensah, higher education is the key to realistic national growth and helps the individual to have access to social, political and economic power.

He said human capital development requires attention to ICT development for the youth and women especially.

“To create learning and a thinking society we must avoid actions which will drain our national coffers and empower policy makers to look beyond money and see the sunrise behind it,” Mr Mensah told the audience.

Students who had excelled academically and other teaching and non-teaching members of staff were presented with prizes in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the growth of the school.
