‘Let us brand Ghana positively’
Mr. Matthias Akotia, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brand Ghana has indicated that in promoting investment in a country, the country needs to be branded positively to investors.
According to the CEO who was addressing the media in Accra, branding Ghana will help in solving economic challenges in the country since investors will always yearn to invest in the Ghanaian economy.
He explained that, a country’s brand strategy therefore is a plan for defining the most realistic, most competitive and most compelling strategic vision for the country.
He emphasized that, the ultimate goal for brand Ghana is to develop and implement a proactive and integrated national and international strategy to stimulate economic, social and psychological wellbeing for all Ghanaians.
To Mr. Matthias, branding harmonizes national policies as varied as acts and policies of government, the values and behaviors of the public, education, culture, sports, health, taxation, public diplomacy, export and investment promotion and infrastructure development.
“A nation’s brand is a country’s identity that has been proactively distilled and interpreted globally in order to gain worldwide recognition and to construct a favorable national image,” Mr. Matthias noted.
According to him, the brand Ghana Office was established by the president of Ghana, Professor John Evans Atta Mills in September, 2009. The office was set up to co-ordinate the development of a compelling national image for Ghana.
“I am happy that the president of the republic of Ghana has approved the brand Ghana frame work for development in the country” he noted.
Continuing he said they want to share with the media the frame work that will direct and guide the crafting of a vigorous class Ghana strategy as well as the brand delivery plans which will help to understand the challenges ahead of Ghana.
Mr. Matthias Akotia indicated that the government of Ghana who has approved of Brand Ghana Frame work for development will formally launch it on July.
With this he said a country’s plan strategy is a preparation for defining the most realistic, competitive and most compelling strategic vision for the country.
