Orphans and widows as well as widowers in and around Mfantseman East and West constituencies in the Central Region were on New Year not left out of the Christmas celebrations as the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman East, Honourable George Kuntu Blankson, threw a big party for them.

The annual affair, according to Kuntu Blankson, was to give hope to the orphans and widows and make them feel remembered and not left out of the festive celebration.
He said the move was part of his social responsibility to his people and also to show the love and care the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has for them.
The MP noted that the year 2010 would be a year of change for the nation as government would bring the needed development to the country.
Honourable Blankson assured the people of government’s commitment to ensuring that the perennial water shortage in the constituency was solved before the end of the year.
He disclosed that measures had been put in place for a water project to begin this month to enable constituents have access to potable drinking water.
He called for support from the people to enable him and the NDC government achieve their better Ghana agenda.
The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs and Council of State Member, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie, who chaired the function commended the MP for remembering the orphans and widows, especially during the festive season and asked for God’s blessing for him.
He said the gestures showed that the President who hails from the area together with the MP had the underprivileged in their area in mind and urged the people to continue praying for them so as to enable them repeat the gesture every year.
Pastor Joshua K Mensah – who officiated the event – prayed for the people and advised them to have faith in God since He is the father of all orphans and husband to all widows.
The MP Mfantseman West, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, appealed to the people to give them (MPs) in the area all the needed support to enable them bring the needed development to their localities.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Mfantseman, Mr Kweku Hayfron, expressed the hope that the gesture will be repeated every year and not be a nine day wonder so as to give hope to orphans and widows in the area.
The orphans and widows were treated to live band music with all sorts of assorted drinks and food. About 50 bags of rice and 20 bales of used cloths were also distributed among the about 300 people who attended the event.
