Ali Musah a 39 years old cobbler has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment with hard labor by the Tema circuit B court presided by her Lordship Ananda Akins for defiling a12 years old student of Dodowa Methodist Junior High school.
Briefing the court on the case, the prosecutor Mary Assutah stated that, on 15th November 2009 in the afternoon after the victim Priscilla Appenkon had returned from school, she went to the market to sell dough-nut made by her mother.
On the same day at about 6:39 pm whilst the victim was returning home after her rounds, on reaching the house of the accused he called her and asked her to buy him rice.
As a result, the victim went to the accused to collect the money, when she got closer the accused held her into his small kiosk, forcibly tied her mouth with the victim’s jacket , removed her trouser as well as his trouser and boxer shorts and had sexual intercourse with the victim.
Mary Assutah said, after the act the accused carried the victim and threw through the window, due to this, the victim was spotted by a passer-by naked and took her to his sister who knew the victim’s parent.
When they got to her parent’s home the victim was scared to narrate the issue to her parent because the accused told her he would kill her and who ever she tells but upon further interrogation, she narrated her ordeal to her parent who rushed her to the Police Station to lodge a complaint.
At the Police Station, medical report forms were issued to victim to attend a hospital for medical examination and treatment, after the medical examination the case was sent to DOVVSU for necessary action to be taken. The accused however admitted the offence in his caution statement; investigations were made after which the accused was arranged before court.
