After months of intense investigations, TODAY’s searchlight has uncovered a canny sex business involving Ghanaian males (men) in some suburbs of the capital city.
The practice, considered worldwide as Gay and known in Ghana as Papa Ashawo, is now very dominant at Madina-Zongo Junction, a sprawling suburb with all the trappings of a ghetto in Accra.
Other areas like Adabraka, Labadi, Chorkor and Mamprobi have in recent past recorded the male to male sex, where supposed married men or men in sex relationship brandish the act around with glee.
The paper discovered from on the spot findings that most of the gays have taken over most spots in the areas mentioned with the Nikki’s restaurant and bar which is opposite Oman FM as the latest haven for the male prostitution. Our search team found out that the act is practiced in a Guest House which is partitioned into smaller rooms within the precinct of the Nikki restaurant and bar.
The gay prostitutes, TODAY can report, are mainly guys whose ages range from 16 to 25 and converge at night from 9:00 p.m., till dawn where business becomes very brisk.
Our investigations further revealed that by extension another bar known as Flemish Castle Spot which is located near Nikki bar is another area that the gays meet to share and make love. Similar practices were discovered at the REDCO down area.
“My brother, you don’t have to be surprised at all because we have lived with these gay prostitutes for about 4 years now. In fact, it is no news at all; this is where they operate. You will see them standing in front of the Nikkis restaurant and bar with their female counterparts waiting for their partners to come and pay to enjoy them,” Madam Grace Annan, a trader at the Madina Hollywood told these reporters.
“They gather around 9 to 10 p.m., for business. You will usually see their fellow gay partners coming around 10:30 to 11p.m. They bargain with them for good price suitable for both parties and have sex with the guys,” she disclosed.
Intensive glean checks conducted by this paper made it known that their female counterparts also patronized the Nikki’s Restaurant bar and used some kiosks at REDCO down area as their place of haven to engage in big time prostitution.
“When you go to Madina REDCO down area where I personally reside; it would interest you to see the kind of crazy things people involve themselves in the place. These prostitutes don’t care squatting to take their pleasure from behind in the dark,” Mr Constant Kwapong Ansah, a resident of REDCO, stated.
“Sometimes too, you will also find these gays doing the same thing in the area. They do business in kiosks when it becomes necessary,” he revealed.
In an interview with TODAY some of the gay prostitutes who pleaded for strict anonymity disclosed that they were compelled to engage in prostitution due to the economic hardships these days.
“I completed my Senior High School education about two years ago and can’t find myself a job. I am not a homosexual but because man need to survive I was lured into it by my friends who painted a lucrative picture of the acts,” asserted one of the gay prostitute.
“Master! Don’t come and disturb us here; why are you interested in what we are doing? Go and tell the government that we need money. If the government creates jobs today, we will quit this job,” an angry and daring deep male voice stated.
