Zoomlion Company Limited, one of the leading household names in waste management in the country, last week Friday donated 170 motor bikes to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Directorate of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD).
The Ministry is expected to distribute the 170 brand new motor bikes amongst the 170 districts across the country to enable them facilitate monitoring and supervision of the sanitation guard program.
Handing over the bikes to the ministry, Patricia Amponsah, National Coordinator of Zoomlion said “The main objective of this presentation is to ensure that Ghanaians live in a clean and healthy environment, and also help to bring about change in hygiene behaviours and above all sustain the gains of the company’s various waste management initiatives.”
According to Mrs Amponsah, Zoomlion believes in public-private partnership and would therefore commit itself to ensuring that “sanitation problems become a thing of the past.”
Mr Daniel Nyakumawu, the Chief Director of MLGRD, who received the bikes on behalf of the ministry thanked Zoomlion for their kind gesture and called on other cooperate organizations to emulate this shining example.
“We would like to thank Zoomlion for their continued support to sanitation in the country at large. Together, I sincerely believe our aim of making Ghana one of the tidiest countries in Africa will come to pass.
“We will also seize the opportunity to urge other organizations especially those in the area of sanitation to also, as a matter of urgency, complement the efforts of Zoomlion.”
